Enchiladas, tamales.... Delight in the exotic flavors of Guatemalan cuisine on this food tour of Antigua Guatemala.
Food Tour Details
At the time indicated, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Antigua Guatemala and start exploring this colonial city in search of its most authentic flavors.
The first stop will be in San Felipe, where you can enjoy a delicious atol, a chuchito and a typical sweet. The atol de elote, a hot and comforting drink made of ground corn, milk, cinnamon and sugar, is perfect to start with. The chuchitos, small corn dough tamales filled with meat and covered with tomato sauce, are a delicious sample of the local gastronomy. To finish, a typical sweet of the region will sweeten your palate.
The second stop will be at La Merced church. Here, we'll taste the delicious Guatemalan enchiladas, different from the Mexican ones, which are fried tortillas covered with a mixture of beetroot, ground meat and a variety of vegetables, garnished with hard-boiled egg and parsley. We'll accompany this delicacy with a refreshing drink, ideal for further exploration.
We'll finish our tour in Santa Ana, where you can choose between a shuco or a búfalo, two unmissable options. Shuco is a Guatemalan version of the hot dog, with ingredients such as sausage, guacamole, cabbage, mayonnaise and mustard. On the other hand, "El Búfalo" is a large loaf of bread created by a talented Antiguan. This voluminous bread is packed with a succulent combination of beans, meat, cabbage and a secret house dressing that gives it a unique and special touch.
After 3 hours of sightseeing, we'll take you back to your hotel in Antigua Guatemala.
