Free Walking Tour of Athens
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the indicated meeting point and set off on a free walking tour of Athens, where history and modern Greek identity come to life.
This tour isn't just about seeing the ancient sites: it's about understanding Greece's living spirit, its paradoxes, passions, and the culture that has shaped Western civilization. Democracy, mathematics, Western philosophy, architecture... We'll dive straight into it all!
During our exploration, we'll pass by the Greek Parliament and Syntagma Square, where we'll witness the changing of the guard, before making our way through some of the city's most historic streets. We'll explore Hadrian's Library and the Roman Agora, once the beating heart of the city's social and commercial life, and wander through Plaka, Athens' oldest neighborhood, and Monastiraki Square, a place that captures every period of the city's history in a single glance.
Depending on the route, we might also explore the ancient Temple of Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian, or venture into Anafiotika, a hidden gem of whitewashed houses tucked into the hillside below the Acropolis. Join us to discover what else awaits!
After approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of exploring, we'll wrap up the tour at a central point in the city.
