Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up at the indicated time at your hotel in Cancun and, from there, we'll head towards the archaeological site of Cobá.
Before reaching our destination, we'll make a 30-minute visit to a Mayan village, where we'll witness an ancestral blessing ceremony performed by a shaman. After the introduction to this ancient knowledge, we'll resume our journey to the ancient city of Cobá.
As soon as we arrive, we'll enter the jungle as we talk about how Cobá rivalled Chichén Itzá in the struggle for hegemony in the Yucatán. We'll see the splendor of this settlement by visiting its main buildings, such as the astronomical observatory. We'll also visit the Mayan stela of Cobá. Historians have found enigmatic clues to this pre-Columbian civilisation. Some theories even suggest that the date of the end of the world is foretold on this stone.
After an informative 2-hour guided tour of Cobá, we'll go to a Mayan village where we'll take a 20-minute tour of the area. There, we'll discover the modern-day culture of the Maya through their traditions, beliefs and inherited customs. We'll participate in a clay workshop, where we'll learn how to form elaborate figures with our hands.
Afterward, we'll enjoy a buffet lunch, which includes dishes such as chicken, cochinita pibil, rice, beans, spaghetti, salads, desserts and soft drinks. With renewed energy, we'll go to the Kuxtal cenote, where we'll swim surrounded by the walls of this sacred grotto.
Finally, we'll return to Cancun arriving back at the starting point 12 hours later.
