At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mazatlán and drive to the Mr. Lionso Ranch, about 40 minutes away. A place surrounded by agave fields will transport you directly to the heart of the mezcal tradition in the south of Sinaloa.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the ranch's factory to learn about the process of mezcal production. We'll walk among the ovens, stills and barrels as we explain how this drink has been an essential part of the local culture since the 19th century. You'll be amazed by the artisanal method by which it is still produced!
During the tour, we'll discover what a vinata is and why these estates are of such historical importance. We'll learn to differentiate between the different types of mezcal and learn curious facts about agave, the mother plant of this distillate.
Of course, we won't miss out on tasting the mezcals made at the ranch. White, rested, almond, coffee, hibiscus, tamarind, mango, chocolate... An explosion of flavours that will awaken all your senses!
To crown the experience, we'll taste a delicious molcajete flamed with mezcal, machaca burritos, guacamole and a refreshing bougainvillea flower water. Without a doubt, a perfect combination of tradition, flavour and local hospitality.
After lunch, we'll return to Mazatlán and say goodbye at your hotel after approximately 2.5 hours.
