Our free walking tour will begin at the roundabout of the Monument to Montejo. This historic spot tributes Francisco de Montejo "the Adelantado" and his son, who conquered the Mayan city of T'ho in 1542. Want to explore the famous Paseo de Montejo? We won't keep you waiting any longer!
On this avenue, you'll be amazed by the impressive facades of the Casas Gemelas, two mansions that, although they seem identical at first glance, have differences in their design. Both were built by the French architect Umbdenstock for the Cámara Zavala family in the age of the henequen boom.
We'll continue admiring these 19th-century Neoclassical palaces, like El Minaret. You'll also see the site of the Peón de Regil Vega y Asociados SCP firm and the Quinta Montes Molina, a mansion that evokes the splendor of the Belle Époque. This residence, known back then as Villa Beatriz, was built at the end of the 19th century and is a clear example of the wealth of the Yucatecan landowners.
We'll also pass by other key monuments, dedicated to figures like Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Justo Sierra. Did you know Justo Sierra is known as the "Maestro of America?" You'll discover why!
Our free tour will conclude at the Monumento a la Patria, hand-carved in stone by the Colombian artist Rómulo Rozo. For 11 years, Rozo sculpted the iconography that represents the history of Mexico, from its foundation to the Prehispanic period. It's a place that deserves to be seen!
