General Lagos Villages Tour
Once we've picked you up at 6 am from your hotel in Putre, we'll head to the northern tip of General Lagos. This commune is located in the region of Arica and Parinacota in the northernmost part of Chile.
After passing through customs controls, we'll come to the Tripartite Landmark. This is the exact point where the borders of Chile, Bolivia and Peru meet and the site of a fair market that's held every Sunday where products from these three South American countries are up for sale.
We'll browse the street vendor's stalls and learn all about the different goods that are traded in the Andean Altiplano. Next, we'll go through border control again and return to Chilean territory to continue our tour of General Lagos.
The next stop on our tour will be in the town of Visviri, where we'll learn about the railway history of the train between Arica and La Paz, which used to pass through this point. Our tour will continue to the village of Cosapilla, which is home to an iconic church. We'll take a break here for a picnic lunch that'll include sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates and juices.
To round off our tour, we'll visit Caquena and try to spot the llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and other Andean animals that inhabit this area. We'll then take you back to your hotel in Putre and drop you off between 12 and 2 pm.
