Tour Options
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose between two options. Both include an English–speaking guide, mountain bike rental and a helmet. Below is a brief explanation of both of these options:
Andes Crossing Tour (7 Hours)
After being collected from your hotel, we'll travel towards the outskirts of Ushaia until we reach the point where we'll begin this bike tour of the crossing of the Andes, more specifically next to the former sawmill at Lake Escondido.
Once we're familiar with the bike, we'll begin the tour by ascending the Andes Mountains of Southern Patagonia. We'll climb a total of 450 metres above sea level!
For this, we'll take Route Nº3. We'll pass by the famous Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint, from where we'll have some amazing views of Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano.
Afterwards, we'll ride our mountain bikes down the Garibaldi Pass, where we'll change slopes and begin riding on some flat sections making the tour even more enjoyable.
After 23 kilometres (14 miles), we'll regain some energy at a restaurant in the mountains where we'll taste local food. With this delicious taste in our mouths, we'll return to the minibus and begin our journey back to the hotels after 7 hours together.
Estancia Tunnel (6 Hours)
After meeting up on Avenida San Martín de Ushuaia, we'll take our bikes and begin this trip which will bring us to the Estancia Tunnel.
Firstly, we'll cycle for around 10 kilometres (6 miles) until we reach the Playa Larga Nature Reserve. Afterwards, we'll begin cycling on the path that leads to the Estancia Tunnel via the coast. The panoramic views we'll have will be amazing!
Later on, we'll pass along the Cerro Fique, where the Fuegino forest mixes with the landscapes of the Beagle Channel. We'll continue the tour by making our way to a viewpoint to check out the area from above, and, if we're lucky, even enjoy spotting some condors or red foxes.
Once we've reached the Estancia Tunnel, we'll make a stop for around 20 minutes to learn about the history of the area, which is famous for its livestock farming and sawmill. In addition, we'll enjoy a delicious picnic-style lunch.
After this rest, we'll hop back on our bikes again and return to the starting point, where after a total of 6 hours and 25 kilometres (15 miles) of cycling.
