At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Merida and make our way towards the Mucuyché Hacienda, located in Abalá. Let's discover the history and beauty of this old estate!
After a 1-hour journey, we'll begin a self-guided tour of the Mucuyché Hacienda, whose name in the indigenous language means 'tree of the dove'.
Throughout the tour, we'll tell you all about the estate's 17th-century history and the role it played in the Henequen industry, which was one of the most prosperous in Yucután. After this industry's decline, the hacienda remained closed for many years, but nowadays much of its original state has been preserved with minimal restorations, which gives us the chance to appreciate its authentic beauty. You'll be blown away by all its details!
After the tour, you'll have 3 hours to enjoy the spectacular cenotes that are dotted around the estate. You'll be able to swim in the Carlota Cenote, which is semi-open to the sky and has a depth of up to 7 metres (23 feet). This cenote is named after Empress Carlota, who bathed in its waters during her 1865 visit to the Yucatán Peninsula. You'll feel like royalty swimming in its crystal-clear waters!
You'll also be able to explore the Azul Maya Cenote, whose beauty will leave you breathless. What's more, to travel from one cenote to another, you'll have the option to cross a canal, either swimming or walking along a stone path. You'll feel at one with nature!
Lastly, we'll return to Merida and we'll say our goodbyes at your hotel after this 6-hour day trip.
