Aluxes Ecopark Trip
We'll pick you up at the indicated time from your hotel in Palenque, from where we'll take you to the Aluxes Ecopark, a rescue centre for the fauna and flora of Chiapas.
Upon arrival, we'll enter a man-made jungle with more than 10,000 tree species, rehabilitated wetlands and a new lagoon system. During the tour, we'll climb a 25 m (82 ft) high tower to spot the different birds that inhabit the park. In particular, we'll watch the flight of the scarlet macaw with its colourful plumage. In the distance, we'll also be able to see the Mayan archaeological remains of Palenque.
Afterwards, we'll see monkeys, turtles, anteaters and the imposing jaguar in its habitat, the largest feline in America and one of the sacred symbols of Mayan culture.
We'll also visit the manatees in their lagoon and have the opportunity to learn all about these enormous freshwater inhabitants. Did you know that in ancient times, they were mistaken for mermaids?
Another place we'll visit in the eco-park is the crocodile area, as well as the area where the playful spider monkeys and howler monkeys are found. The Aluxes Ecopark has numerous reptiles, amphibians and birds that you'll fall completely in love with.
Finally, we'll bring you back to your hotel in Palenque and bring our adventure to an end after a total of 2 hours.
