Cross the Lacandon Jungle and visit Metzabok on our day trip from Palenque. You'll also go on a boat ride and admire fascinating cave paintings by the Mayas. Let's go!
Metzabok Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Palenque and set off on the 2-hour 30-minute drive to the Metzabok Lagoon.
When we get there we'll hop out of our minibus and board a boat that'll take us across the lagoon, which was named after the God of Rain. During our 2-hour 30-minute boat trip, we'll see the famous and historic cave paintings that lie at the foot of the Chiapas Mountains.
We'll tell you some fun facts about Metzabok, which is located in the heart of the Lacandon Jungle. In addition, you'll learn all about the origin of the Maya Lacandon community.
Halfway through the trip, we'll return to the mainland for a 1-hour break so you can have lunch on your own.
Once you've had something to eat, we'll take a walk through the jungle so you can learn about this area's biodiversity. We'll head to a lookout point which is perfect for admiring views of Metzabok and its surrounding areas.
It'll then be time to head back to Palenque, where we'll arrive at around 7 pm.
