Cristo de Chiapas + Zoomat Tour
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas and set off on a 1-hour journey to the capital of the state of Chiapa, Tuxtla Gutiérrez. Are you ready to discover the main attraction of the capital?
Our first stop will be Cristo de Copoya, one of the most emblematic landmarks in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, considered a symbol of the city. This monumental cross, which features a profile of Jesus Christ in its interior, stands at 203 ft (62 m) tall. It's the largest cross in Mexico! From this viewpoint, we'll admire the spectacular scenic views of the city and its surroundings for 1 hour.
Then, we'll go on an approximately 20-minute drive to visit the Zoológico Miguel Álvarez del Toro, popularly known as the ZOOMAT, which we'll visit for approximately 2.5 hours. This zoo is considered one of the most important zoos in Latin America due to its preservation model in natural spaces. Did you know the ZOOMAT only has fauna native to Chiapa? Scarlet macaws, white-tailed deer, jaguars, pumas, Mexican spider monkeys... Get ready to see the native fauna of Chiapa up close!
To wrap up the activity, we'll drive for 15 minutes to head to Tuxtla Gutiérrez. Here, you'll have 2 hours of free time to enjoy lunch on your own at a typical restaurant and savor the region's traditional flavors.
Finally, we'll start our journey back, where we'll arrive at your hotel after 8 hours.
